I’ve been blown away by the reception to the Heart of the Corsairs series.
This is my first “proper” series and I’ve found it more challenging, demanding, fun, exhilarating, emotional and exhausting all at once.
In each novel, I try to raise the bar in what I’m capable of doing as an author. I’ve tried hard not to shy away from complex characterizations, multi-faceted plot lines I’ve gone much further in exploring deep psychological issues in all of these stories.
Shadow of the Corsairs is yet to come and I’ve set myself a greater challenges – a story which is a prequel to Captive of the Corsairs, so we see the unstable Captain Kit Hardacre at his manic worse. Elias Nash is still trying to find his way in the world and is somewhat unworldly.
Morwena is a character to contend with, she is balancing life in a changing world complicated by her father’s emergent dementia and managing her two brothers – one of whom is quite the villain. She is vibrant, passionate, a tough negotiator and fiercely loyal.
Jonathan is a character I’ve come to adore. There is no other way to describe him, but positively regal. He is measured, level headed, intelligent, curious, talented – which means he has to contend with the chaos of life as one of Hardacre’s officers and his unconventional romance with the passionate Morwena – and that’s on top of dealing with feelings for his late wife and the tragic loss of his children.
I’m right in the middle of writing their love story and to tie things up neatly to come full circle to the beginning of Captive of the Corsairs.
Although the Heart of the Corsairs is a self-contained series, Kit has proved to be such a popular character that I have plans for his legacy to live on. Unfortunately I’m sworn to secrecy at the moment.
I was hoping to surprise you all mid-year with fresh covers for two of my earliest books – Moonstone Obsession (my first historical romance) and its sequel Moonstone Conspiracy.
But it turned out that the surprise was on me as my former publisher announced I was getting rights to my first three books.
So I’m delighted to say Moonstone Obsession and Moonstone Conspiracy are back on the shelves as Amazon Kindle Unlimited titles for the first time.
Look at these gorgeous covers. I’m indebted to Dar Albert for her amazing work. For the first time ever, I love the Moonstone Conspiracy’s cover. If you buy me a cup of coffee I’ll tell you the full tragic tale of the horrid first cover…
In the next week or two, my first Medieval romance, Warrior’s Surrender will also be back on the shelves with a new cover. Here it is:
But that’s not the only surprises I have for you. As always there will be another beautiful Bluestocking Belles Christmas anthology – so do join us on February 10 for a Facebook party.
We have a surprise for you, but I can’t tell you more, so you’ll just have to come along and find out the news first hand.
Speaking of news first hand, the next edition of my magazine, Love’s Great Adventure will be out in mid-March and boy, do we have a treat for you!
In May, I’ll be in the United States for RT and if you’re attending as an author or a reader, please do come up and say hello. This will be my first trip to the United States, so I’m nervous and excited.
And… I have a new standalone title coming out in August. This will be a full-length title and part of a loosely connected series and you’ll love the theme and some of the big names in historical romance will be taking part. I’m hugely honoured to be included in their number.
So, we get to the final quarter of the year and it is then I hope to have the first title of a new series out. I’m really excited about this series. It’s going to be filled with adventure, romance, intrigue and, hopefully, a little humour as well.
Before I sign off for now, I’d like to thank my darling husband for his incredible support. My alpha hero is also my beta reader, critique partner and structural editor – as well as editor for Love’s Great Adventure – and life with him is Love’s Great Adventure.
Well, I think my 2018 dance card is well and truly filled!
I love to hear from readers, so please to say hello. You do me a huge honour in allowing my fevered imaginings into your lives.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
