I’m finally on holidays and that means plenty of time for reading!
I’ve finally caught up with some titles I’ve been hanging out for all year.
Here is what has been on my list. The first three I’ve read and reviewed, the others are to come – and I am quite sure I’ll be adding a few more titles before going back to work properly rested and relaxed.
Engaging The Enemy by Susanne Bellamy – There is a reason why the Australian film industry, well, sucks, and that’s because it doesn’t make films from stories like this. Engaging the Enemy is a delightfully charming romantic comedy that had me eagerly planning my next trip back to Melbourne.
The Barbarian Bride by Eva Scott – Klara and the hero Lucius are swift to acknowledge their attraction so it is getting to the happily ever after that lays at the heart of this story.
The Barbarian Bride really hits its straps when our hero and heroine are in Rome where Klara is trapped as a slave newly purchased by gladitorial school and Lucius is trapped by the scheming ambition of his Senator father.
Time by Samantha Darling – Samantha Darling’s debut is an emotional rollercoaster reminiscent of the gritty north of England ‘kitchen sink’ dramas written between the 1930s and the end of the 1950s -of the type of Stan Barstow, among others.
The first person narration is highly effective here. Your heart will break as we watch this young wife become a widow through witnessing the evil that is cancer steal the father of her unborn baby.
Honor’s Debt by Noelle Clark
Capturing The Pirate’s Heart by Annie Seaton
