Ida Pollock

Ida Pollock, author of more than 120 romance novels. Aged 105, she’s still working with a new novel out later this year.

A wonderful story from the UK’s Daily Mail about a lady who is arguably the world’s oldest romance writer – at the age of 105.

Ida Pollock, author of an incredible 123 titles is about to release her 124th.

And she shares some sage advice for those of us just getting into the game:

Ida said: ‘A romance is never just a romance, there’s adventure, mystery and movement.

‘You need a grand, dramatic setting – the Swiss Alps were always an personal favourite of mine – and a chance meeting, on a train, a cruise, or perhaps the hero and heroine find themselves shipwrecked on a desert island.’

And in that statement alone, Ida reveals the timeless nature of love, courtship and romance.

In 1956 alone Ida had eight romances published under five pen names – each around 70,000 words long and all finishing with a happy ending.

Thank you Ida for giving so many people so much pleasure and escapism.
